What is Search Engine Optimization(SEO)?

What does it take to rank well on Google through search engine optimization? And if you use search engine optimization, how likely is it that your website will reach #1? Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of formatting your website’s content in a way that allows search engines to easily determine what information you are presenting. In the case of businesses, it shows what products or services you are offering. The easier it is to find what your page is about, the more likely search engines are to display your website in a results page for a specific keyword or phrase. And the higher your website ranks, the more potential customers are likely to find it.

Tips like knowing your customers’ search intent are good to consider before changing or adjusting your website’s keywords. This can help you understand whether potential customers are looking up what your product is, considering whether to buy it, seeking to purchase it, or navigating to your website again after their initial purchase. Several more tips include researching what seed keywords your competitors use, searching for relevant long-tail keywords, and keeping an eye on what niche discussion forums are talking about.

Can You Reach #1?

In my opinion, these tips are all essential for a company to do well with search engine optimization. Unfortunately, they do not guarantee that your website will become the number one search result in any given search engine. What these tips will do, though, is drastically improve your website’s rank and help more customers find your business. In my opinion, whether you rank as #1 or not depends not only on your own website’s design and keywords, but also on those of similar companies. If they have a similar approach as you, you may rank #1 in the best case scenario. And if not, you will at least be on par with your competitors. These tips are nevertheless extremely important to keep in mind, and can make or break your business’s online presence.
