With over 2 billion people on earth participating in the act of online shopping, and 227.5 million Americans, it is not surprising that users have a large impact on the design of websites.
While you are shopping, you may not realize where you look on a page, but your eyes know if the website is clear and easy to navigate. Your eyes also pick up on how nice the website looks. If the design of the landing page or home page is bland, there are other sites offering similar products that you would rather browse through and purchase from. The blandly designed websites might be easier to navigate, but a visually appealing website will be more valued by the consumer.
Even if customers should care more about the functionality of the website, they are the ones making the purchase so they have the sway on how websites are constructed.
