At Wegmans, we value making a difference in every community we serve. This is why we are partnering with The Center for Youth to address LGBTQ youth homelessness in Rochester.
The Center For Youth
LGBTQ youth are more likely to experience homelessness. With 40% of homeless youth identifying as LGBTQ. In addition, 68% of homeless LGBTQ youth say that this is because of family rejection. That is to say, this is a big problem in our communities. There are many charities nationwide that are working to correct this problem. For example, the Center for Youth is doing great work to support homeless LGBTQ youth. For example, they provide shelters and housing at their Arnett House located here in Rochester. How we are helping:
Currently, we have our pride-themed Wegmans shopping bags available at all of our store locations. You can check out our different bag varieties here. For each shopping bag you purchase we will donate one meal to the Center for Youth. Together we can make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ youth in Rochester.
