Be honest, the only emails you open are the ones from your professors or the ones that say “track your package.” As for the rest of your emails, they either remain unopened or lost within the thousands of other emails you have. However, email still remains one of the most reliable ways to communicate information. I wouldn’t say email marketing is dead, but there are many ways to make it better.
How to Improve
After watching Larry Kim’s Stukent video, I learned that there are ways to make email marketing generate more engagement. One of those ways include a new advertising technology that allows you to create a custom audience where you get to decide who receives what email. This is beneficial to email marketing because it allows you to see data of who the emails are reaching, how effective they are and if people are buying products as a result of the email. Another way to generate more engagement is by social remarketing. Kim states that social remarketing generates three times more engagement rates and two times more conversion rates. This shows that there are different techniques that can be used to ensure that email marketing is being used effectively. Even though people may not be using email like they have in the past, it certainly is not dead yet.
